Groups that use the Chells Pavilion have secured funding from a local councillor to create a safe and secure area for children using their centre to play in.
County Councillor Robin Parker (Chells) has allocated £2,500 from his locality budget allowance to users of the Chells Pavilion, who provide toddler groups for parents and grandparents in the area.
Cllr Parker said:
The Chells Pavilion is a popular and well-used centre, with five local community groups using the facilities throughout the week, but there was no outdoor area for the children to enjoy. This funding is helping to clear and revamp the run-down outdoor areas for the benefit of the wide range of people from the local community who use this centre.
Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, with funding to be used for worthy social, economic or environmental causes in Hertfordshire. A total of £10,000 is available to each of the 77 members of Hertfordshire County Council to spend on worthwhile community projects in their area.
