County Councillor Robin Parker (Chells) has allocated £500 from his locality budget allowance to Sport Stevenage to help train local coaches.

Cllr Parker explained:

The funding is being used to provide a comprehensive training programme for club coaches in various different areas, including training them to coach in a school environment.

Sport Stevenage plays an active part in our community by promoting and encouraging more participation in sport. The better the coaches are, the more children will get from their sport sessions.

Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, with funding to be used for worthy social, economic or environmental causes in Hertfordshire. A total of £10,000 is available to each of the 77 members of Hertfordshire County Council to spend on worthwhile community projects in their area.
