Cllr Robin Parker (Chells) provided £500 out of his locality budget in order to place a grit bin at Ross Court, Chells, Stevenage

After the housing association were unable to provide this for its residents, Cllr Parker put his hands in the pockets of his locality budget to provide this.

Cllr Parker said:

After receiving a petition from the residents of this area I decided to use my locality budget to fund a salt bin. Ross Court is a sheltered housing area of 14 bungalows so great news for its residents.

A fall in the snow and ice can be deadly so this removes the risks involved and increases the resident’s independence.

The money will provide a bin and one full load of salt.

Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, with funding to be used for worthy social, economic or environmental causes in Hertfordshire. For information on how to apply for funding under the scheme, visit and type ‘locality budgets’ into the search box.
