A grant of £1000 has been awarded from Councillor Robin Parker‘s Locality Budget to Stevenage Borough Council for a garage compound in Telford Avenue.
The funding will go towards compound fencing and lighting work to ensure that it is a safe and accessible area.
Cllr Parker (Chells Division) said: “This funding will enable Stevenage Borough Council to make improvements to a garage compound in Telford Avenue, making it safer and more attractive to residents. I hope that this will encourage more residents to use it for parking, helping to relieve parking pressure on Telford Avenue.
“I decided to fund these improvements in response to concerns from residents about the new parking restrictions soon to be introduced by Stevenage Borough Council in Chells, which will restrict on-street parking.”
A total of £10,000 is available to each of the 77 members of Hertfordshire County Council to spend on community projects in their area. Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, with funding to be used for worthy social, economic or environmental causes in Hertfordshire.
