Stevenage Borough Council has been awarded £9,591.91 from County Councillor Robin Parker’s (Chells Division) locality budget.
The money will go towards the cost of resurfacing the car park and service road next to St Hugh and St John’s Church in Mobbsbury Way, Stevenage.
Councillor Parker said: “The surface of the car park next to the church, off Mobbsbury Way, and the Glebe service road nearby, are an eyesore and this will provide a better and safer environment for pedestrians, shoppers and other users of this well used local facility.”
A total of £10,000 is available to each of the 77 members of Hertfordshire County Council to spend on worthwhile community projects in their area.
Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, with funding to be used for worthy social, economic or environmental causes in Hertfordshire. For information on how to apply for funding under the scheme, visitwww.hertsdirect.org/localitybudgets
