MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT VISITS STEVENAGE
Tom Brake, Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Carshalton and Wallington since 1997, paid a visit to Stevenage on Saturday 23 February.
Tom, who is the Liberal Democrat spokesperson on Brexit, addressed a crowd of local Liberal Democrat councillors, members and supporters at a gathering at The Glebe. He said that the political climate was good for Liberal Democrats to make significant gains in the council elections in May, both in Stevenage and nationally.
He also commented on the recent defections of MPs from both the Conservative and Labour parties to form an independent group (not yet a party) in the House of Commons and said that the Liberal Democrats in Parliament would co-operate with them where possible.
Asked about the possibility of an early general election, Tom expressed the view that anything is possible, especially if Theresa May returns from her forthcoming Brussels trip empty-handed again.
